Balmain East
The quieter eastern end of the Balmain peninsula, with harbour views, a ferry wharf and a mix of historic cottages and modern apartments.

Balmain East is a suburb at the easternmost tip of the Balmain peninsula, approximately 5 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD. It looks directly across Sydney Harbour to the CBD and the Harbour Bridge. The suburb is quieter and more residential than Balmain, with fewer shops and cafes but a stronger sense of privacy. Housing is a mix of restored sandstone cottages, Victorian terraces and contemporary apartments, many with direct water views. The Balmain East ferry wharf provides a 20-minute commute to Circular Quay. Bus services connect to the city via Darling Street, and driving via the ANZAC Bridge takes about 15 minutes outside peak hours. Houses typically sell between $2.5 million and $3.5 million.
