Balmain
A historic inner-west peninsula with sandstone cottages, a vibrant Darling Street dining strip and ferry access to the CBD.

Balmain is a historic suburb on a peninsula in Sydney's inner west, approximately 5 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD. It sits between Mort Bay and White Bay on Sydney Harbour. The suburb was originally a working-class maritime and shipbuilding area, and its heritage is visible in rows of sandstone workers' cottages, Victorian terraces and narrow laneways. Darling Street is a popular dining and shopping strip with cafes, restaurants, boutiques and pubs running the length of the peninsula. The Balmain ferry runs from Thames Street to Circular Quay in approximately 25 minutes. Much of Balmain is within a heritage conservation area, and many individual properties are heritage-listed. The median house price typically ranges from $2.2 million to $3 million.
